When looking through images of styled rooms, I’m always checking to see what stylists do to make the room feel more real; what tricks are used to appear like people are using the space.
Looking through Emily’s portfolio, I noticed she does the open book thing quite often. I guess you can say she inspired me because I too have done the open book thing, here.

I just love Emily…she’s so *real* in everything, personality and design wise. And seeing the word open in rapid secession makes me think of that Christmas commercial from eons ago for like JC Penny with the lady out from saying “Open, open, open!” Don’t ask me why. (c;
OMG, yes! I totally still ref that when I want a store to open. How funny. Was it for like Marshall’s maybe. Ha!

I love this idea! I’m a huge fan of Emily’s work, and I don’t think I’ve ever noticed the open book thing before. But you’re totally right – it makes the spaces seem much more “lived in” rather than posed.
Will definitely have to remember this little trick!
